EOTC Week

In class at the moment we are doing EOTC week activity's before we go on camp.

We can chose between 12 different activity's. This is my second activity. This time I chose to answer Questions about Cath Brown and about the Marae Ngāti Moki  .

Questions:

1) Where did Cath Brown grow up? What roles did she hold?

She grew up in Taumutu. She was a member of the marae and then held positions as a chair of Te Taumutu Rūganaga and Upoko.

2) What type of art did Cath make? How do you know she was successful at it?

weaving . I knew she was successful because it said she was one of the most respected artists Māori in new zealand.

3) Where is the marae located? What does the land around it look like?

The marae is located in Taumutu. There is a beautiful ocean in the background of the marae and you can hear the roar of the waves crashing down.

4) What does mahinga kai mean? What do you think they ate?

It means food source and maybe seafood and they animals that the land provided.

5) What is Ngāti Moki Marae built on?

Ngāti Moki marae is built on the site of Te Pā o Moki

6) What is the Awhitu House?

It was where very important events were held.

Summer learning.

Australia!!

In cyber smart we have been challenged to blog through out the summer holidays as it shows that it can help improve your learning or keep your learning up. 

In cybersmart today we were given this task. Its where you chose a country and answer questions about it. 

Question 1 : What is the name of the capital?

Answer: The capital is Caberra

Question 2: What is the population in the capital city?

Answer: 447,692. This number was recorded on the 1st of January 2018.

Question 3: In January the weather in the capital city is usually?

Answer: It is usually summer and the average of 23°C.

Question 4: Is the Canberra located in the Northern, southern or middle part of the country?

Answer: Canberra is located on the northern parts of Australia.

Question 5: When language is mostly spoken in the Canberra?

Answer: There is one official language and that is English.

EOTC week

Today for EOTC week I chose to do the history of Omaka scout camp and make a timeline with all the main events written in order.  Omaka scout camp has a great range of activities like flying fox, water slide, river tubing, feeding eels, blind trail and many more fun activities,

Here is my timeline of all the main events that have happened at Omaka scout camp

Class pet!?!

In our class we got given $150 ( not real money ) to " spend " on a class pet. Me and my group  chose a goldfish to " spend " our fake money. the total that our goldfish spending came to was $109. 

I was hoping to spend it on a dog but sadly it was to mach. Hopefully we can get a real class pet soon.

Letter Writing

In my class we have been writing to letter to a teacher about why we think we should or should not have fitness. I have chosen that we should not have fitness. in my letter you will see why i have chosen to not have fitness as I have put in three reasons of why I think we should stop fitness.

Dear Mr Mitchell

I’m Izzy from 8Bh, I’m writing to you about my reasons to not having fitness. I’m not here to offend you on your idea about having fitness just to share my opinion. I feel as though fitness should stop or should be optional. I do not hate fitness but I don’t love it either. I know lots of kids do not like fitness but this is my input on the fitness or no fitness debate.

Here are a couple of my concerns

• It is a hassle to get changed in and out of our P.E gear.
• Some kids might not have eaten.
• It takes up learning time.

It is a hassle to get changed.I feel like having to get in and out of P.E gear is just a hassle. Especially if they have P.E last period that means they have to get changed twice. Also not everyone has full gear or any gear at all and that can cause them to get told off even if it isn’t their fault and they can’t get a note.

Some kids might not have had breakfast.Some kids may not have gotten the chance to get any food in the morning which can lead to a lack of energy when doing fitness and that can cause for them to be called on if it looks like they aren’t trying even tho they are doing their best. Most of the time you are not allowed to sit of the side for a breather or to just have a break.

It can take up our learning time. I know we only do fitness for 15 - 30 minutes but that is a lot of time to be missing out on. I know that some teachers say that coming in after fitness your brain should have more energy to just get started but when people come in from fitness they are very silly and acting up and that can create a lot of distraction in the class for everyone else.

I think that vince Vawter wrote this because he is the main  character and he had or still has a stuttering problem and this book was his way of sharing his childhood stuttering struggle.

It looked like a cute dog before she had no idea how it turned into the monster, Like what happened to its cute ears. Now its a wolf like monster with huge fangs and big ugly pointy ears.
